Mid-July on-campus events update

As we announced in our previous update regarding events, on-campus events may resume Aug. 1 under the Restore Illinois Phase 4 guidance. Because the in-person instructional schedule directly affects which spaces are available to be used for events and meetings, campus facilities may not yet be ready to begin reserving their spaces for events and meetings during the school year.

Additionally, some venues not impacted by the course schedule still may be working through their specific implementation of the Restore Illinois Phase 4 guidance before allowing space reservations to be made. This includes the new regional approach announced on July 15 by Governor Pritzker (pdf download).

We ask that Campus Units interested in reserving space for an in-person event or meeting during Welcome Week or the school year, please consult with the specific facility to see if they are ready to begin taking space reservations. Registered Student Organizations (RSOs) should continue to work through the Student Engagement Office (formerly RSO Office) for space requests.

Campus committees are working on more specific protocols for on campus events which we hope to share with you on or before August 1.

Thank you for your continued patience and kindness as we prepare for the Fall semester.
